A Convent, as defined by the Order, is one step up from a "Cell"
and requires reasonable conformity to the basic laws for Listeners
(daily prayers, weekly fasting) and at least 3 adults. Here are a
couple quotes from a Manichaean scholar about ancient gnostic convents:
"The Manichaean conventus which they
established in centers of population were highly elusive and mobile.
From the laws directed against them, we learn that Manichaeans met in
ordinary houses which they turned into temporary churches by displaying
certain motifs and probably their scriptures." - Manichaeism in Central Asia and China by Samuel Lieu, p 104
"The Manichaean church consisted of dioceses, monasteries and conventicles." - Manichaeism in Central Asia and China by Samuel Lieu, p 105
