Is the Order Buddhist in orientation? |
|
Our Apostle Mani fully embraced Buddhist teachings
and successfully harmonized them with traditional Nazorean Christian teachings.
We seek to do the same. Outwardly our Order may not appear to be overtly Buddhist, but in essence it is closer to Buddhism than Christianity despite its adoration of Yeshu (Jesus) as its prime Buddha figure. The emphasis is not on washing away of sin by blood, a concept which the Order rejects, but the focus is on personal responsibility
and enlightenment. This emphasis on personal responsibility
and enlightenment is opposed to false Pauline Christianity which promises
so much for so little. Gnostic Christianity is easily merged with
the teachings of all enlightened ones, including Buddha.
The Parclete is the third member of the Nazorean
Trinity, corresponding to the Holy Spirit in Pauline Christianity. Anciently,
our Order taught that this Parclete incarnated as both Buddha and as our
Apostle Mani. The Buddha adored by the Nazoreans is not Shakyamuni from India, but Shenrab from Mt. Kailash, and the resonance is with Mahayana Buddhism and Bonpoism, not Indian Buddhism.
