What is the Order's rationale in regards to its position on gay marriage?

The foundational principle of our Order's view on Homosexuality hinges on whether we are truly androgynous, or simply pseudo-androgynous because we are separated from our opposites whilst in these fallen worlds. There are of course many schools that teach we are truly and eternally male and female as we are now - in this world, and that such reflects the true nature of the Gods and Goddesses above. Our Order teaches that we are indeed androgynous, but that our present androgynous nature is a product of the fall of the Primal Pair and not an eternal condition. We teach male female balance, but in a different manner than the androgynous pattern  put forth by many. This belief has certain contradictions with a belief in the eternal validity of the male male sexual bond and of our present androgynous condition. We do not wish to be offensive toward anyone's sexual preferences and believe that intimacies between adults are their own private affair. We do, however, represent a certain Path that is focused upon the male female union, and must remain true to that Path by expounding the divine principles behind those unions that generate new Life.

The Order of Nazorean Essenes does not condemn homosexual relationships or homosexuals, as one will hopefully glean from our few public pronouncements. The unique circumstances and situations that some people find themselves in precludes us from saying categorically that such and such is a sin or a bad idea.  Perhaps something that would be a drawback to one may catapult another past some block into a new spiritual world. Our view is that humanity is quite sick psychologically and spiritually, and as with physical sicknesses, sometimes certain strong herbs or poisons can help restore balance to the soul. In light of this, certain acts that go against basic principles of our Order may indeed be necessary for someone in their particular situation.  The Order can not condone such activities, yet neither can she condemn them if done beyond her auspice.  Heterosexual relationships are, for the most part, founded on impure principles, as are homosexual ones, in our view. Neither, nor celibacy, are pure. For everyone, whether  gay, celibate or heterosexual, is in need of enlightenment and refinement according to Nazirutha.

So being gay does not necessarily make one more impure than a non gay person, since all are impure, nor does being heterosexual make one more spiritual than a homosexual. To gain purity one needs experience and growth in compassion and wisdom, which may indeed come, at least in part, from gay or non gay interaction. So our emphasis is not in mandating a certain type of human relationship, at least in the beginning, or condemning one form of such. Nevertheless, to fulfil our heavenly mandate we must focus on, and promote, our ultimate aim - which is enlightenment and the "marriage" program that leads ever nearer to it.

Certainly many modern movements and some ancient Gnostic groups were known for promoting all types of sexuality and experience as useful, but our Order is not of this persuasion. Defying the archons of the lower worlds and their laws is not enough we feel, for one must also promote and become goodness and achieve a fulness of either Ziwa or Noorah light. One must also refine and rechannel the divergent and imperfect energies within the psyche, which we associate with the 7 and the 12. Eventually these various energies are distilled down to two very important ones - Ziwa (yang light) and Noorah (yin light). The Order's position is that  the Primordial Oneness manifests as these two principles, which in turn manifest as male and female.

To return to the Oneness (the goal of Nazirutha), one must pass through the gate of perfectly balanced male and female light energies. Since this is the ultimate goal, the ultimate vision or ideal is of  perfect Noorah creatures (Shkinta goddesses) and perfect Ziwa creatures (Uthra gods) abiding in a state of spiritual oneness but also in physical diversity. A fully enlightened Buddha-Uthra is both male and female because they are (when joined) both a male and female, not because each of them is a hermaphrodite or androgynous mix of ziwa and noorah within their individual selves when not in intimate union.

The foundational texts of our Order are full of divine beings of both sexes inhabiting heaven. And they constantly describe states of perfection in fertility terms. The key to divine transformation lies in the intermingling of these two forms of light that were unbalanced in the beginning. Both energies are in both sexes of course, but our goal is to increase one form of that energy within us, and then marry it to the opposite energy that has been accentuated in another of the opposite sex. Unlike some celibate schools, Nazirutha does not teach that ultimate perfection can be achieved by balancing both energies within the subtle body without an outside helpmate.

So a basic premise of Nazoreanism is that one needs to develop into as much of one form of light as possible, either Noorah or Ziwa so that later on this light can be merged with its opposite in tantric union. Because of certain physical limitations, we do not believe it is possible for a soul in a male body to develop into a complete Noorah creature, or vice versa. Maybe a ziwa soul is in a noorah body, but if so, their progress in this incarnation will have some ceiling eventually. A soul in a male body who is attracted to ziwa (male) energy is not necessarily wrong for pursuing such, but our teaching is that they will never attain full Ziwahood by homosexual union.

We teach that all pearl souls were created either ziwa (male) or noorah (female). These energies have become impure and muddled as we descended into darkened universes to gain experience. The way back out is to figure out which type of soul we are, and to re-achieve a fullness of that energy and then eternally merge it with an opposite expression - becoming one soul in two or more bodies. As Yeshu said: Male with the female, neither male nor female. Since this is the goal, the Order can not but emphasize the male female union which she sees as so indispensable for higher transformation. It may not be too terribly important for a very long time, or for many incarnations, but eventually as we enter the end of our journey it become the pivotal point, the opus dei of Nazirutha.

We do understand that males with males unbalances certain subtle energy flows, but this is not the real problem. The pressing point is that we need to be fully attracted to the opposite sex at some future point before we can fully merge into perfection. For a gay person, this cannot be achieved by simply  ignoring very real same sex attractions, or by forcing oneself to engage in heterosexual intimacy that may feel unattractive, unnatural or disgusting, but it can be achieved by living a natural spiritual life to the best of ones ability, and moving slowly ahead one degree of Nazirutha at a time, life after life - or even in one lifetime, until we find ourselves naturally and irresistibly drawn into eternal union with our Dmuta (soul reflection, or other half).

The whole question hinges on whether we can be complete by ourselves, or if we need others or are part of others unawares. The mystery of the Living Soul is vast. Are we really ourselves, or simply a semiconscious part of a bigger self. Nazirutha answers this question in part by declaring that we split from our other half when we descended down, and that we must reunite with that missing half in order to ascend up once again. We must find our soul mate(s) and merge with them, then and only then will we be complete. We may have many temporary relationships and partial mergers preparatory to that time, but these are all just rungs in a ladder that must lead to eternal bondings. If some of these are homosexual in nature, so be it, but our Order cannot encourage such since we teach that the ultimate and last union, the union that abides forever, must be a perfect melting of anima and animus, male with female, ziwa and noorah.

The essence of our teachings, although founded on compassion, must remain centered on  the types of union which lead toward a perfect union of male and female. Homosexuals that understand that this is, and shall remain, our focus are fully welcome within the Order and its Priest(ess)hood.
